Barrie Police are looking for the driver of a car involved in a two-vehicle crash in the city’s south end on Saturday morning.
It happened in the area of Bayview Drive and Mapleview Drive around 10:30 a.m. when police say the driver noticed a gas sale at the new Ultramar, attempted to make a U-turn and was struck by another car.
Police say the driver then tired to have the other driver lie to police about who was driving his vehicle. He then called someone to pretend they were driving and fled the area with the two kids he had in the car with him.
Officers say he had taken the vehicle without consent of the owner as it was not insured and he was under suspension.
Police say they know the identity of the driver and say when he is caught he will face a number of charges including attempting to obstruct justice and public mischief.
