Crews worked overnight to battle a barn fire in Oro-Medonte last night.

The barn on Highway 93 housed animals and some personal items. The Oro-Medonte fire department says the animals did not survive.

The barn was fully engulfed when fire crews from Shanty Bay, Hawkestone, Horseshoe Valley, Rugby, and mutual aid from Barrie arrived. About 35 firefighters were involved and battled the fire overnight in -17C weather.

It’s not being considered suspicious, though the cause has yet to be determined. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office was consulted. Nobody was injured in the fire, though it caused major damage and the barn was a total loss.
