A Wyevale man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in a parking lot in Midland is being remembered as a loving father.

Corby Stott, 29, died after an altercation with another man in the Walmart parking lot Saturday afternoon. Investigators say the incident began as an argument between two men who did not previously know each other.

The motive remains unclear, but the suspect allegedly got into a vehicle and struck the 29-year-old victim.

Stott had two young sons and worked at Bourgeois Motors in Midland.

“He was a big teddy bear, very kind,” Jackie Stott, Corby’s aunt told  CTV News Barrie. “He was a quiet man, who loved his family and thought the world of his two boys.”

Twenty-five-year-old Jason Heffernan of London has been charged with second-degree murder and is expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday.

A post mortem was scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.

Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with video or photos of the incident to come forward.

In the meantime, Stott’s family has set up a trust account for his two sons at the TD Canada Trust branch at 295 King Street in Midland.
