A Whitchurch-Stouffville man pulled from a Peterborough lake has died in hospital.

The 28-year-old was one of two men who were in a paddleboat on Lovesick Lake on Sunday afternoon. The boat started taking on water and sank into the lake.

One of the men was able to swim to shore, while the other had to be pulled from the water. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been requested and will be conducted in the coming days.

The OPP say life-jackets were onboard, but were not worn.
