The Town of Wasaga Beach is rushing to get the municipality ready for the busy season.
Crews were busy working on Monday trying to get the town ready for tourists. A stubborn end to winter has made it difficult for the work to get done.
“Most of what we are doing is water-proofing, demolition work and rebuilding the resting wall of the patio at The Bananas Club,” says Brian Audia of A&G Roofing.
The pressure is on to get things done for the Electric Elements Festival, which kicks off beach season next month.
“A lot of work, a lot of sweat,” says Domenic Comito of Copa Cabana. “Everybody has to be on the same page, we have to make it happen.
“Personnel, supplies there is a whole range of things we have start the process,” says Fred Char of Burger King. “It's not something we haven't done before we have done this for 22 years now.”
Underground pipes are being installed for the Main Street Market and beer garden. Most storefronts are now leased and the goal is to be in full swing by July 1.
“The Main Street Market should be up and running with the beer garden by month end,” says Mayor Brian Smith. “Twelve kiosks are leased out there already so that should be a happening place.”
The Dard is the only waterfront bar that hasen't been leased for the season.
Town council will be taking another look at their options at Tuesday night’s meeting.
