The Nikolopoulos family of Wasaga Beach are our area’s newest multi-millionaires.

Greg and Tammy-Lynn Nikolopoulos and their children arrived at the OLG headquarters in Toronto today to pick up their $50 million cheque from Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.

Greg, who is a business owner, says it’s a tradition for him to purchase lotto tickets on Friday night.

This past Friday, he purchased 100 dollars’ worth of “quick picks”.

He says he and his son discussed the lottery on Friday over lunch, but his son Caiden jokingly dismissed the idea – saying “nobody from Wasaga Beach ever wins”.

When Greg found out his ticket was the winning one, he called his wife and daughter, who were in the Dominican Republic, and told them to come home.

Tammy Lynne says she needed to hear it from her son before she believed her husband wasn’t kidding.

“I said, ‘if HE says it’s true, it’s true,’” said Tammy Lynne. “And he told me it was true.”

Nikolopoulos has owned Canadian Wet Basement Solutions in Wasaga Beach for the past 15 years.

He says he plans to take it slowly, and try to absorb the life-changing win.

However, the family does have a couple of solid plans: they’d like to buy a new boat, and Greg, an avid football fan, wants box seats at next year’s Super Bowl.
