A man is facing impaired driving charges after a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Owen Sound.

Police say the crash happened around 6 p.m. near the 9th avenue and 10th Street East intersection, where a minivan was waiting to turn right onto 10th Street when it was rear-ended by a Nissan Versa.

Police say there were no injuries but both vehicles were substantially damaged, with the Nissan towed away.

According to police, investigating officers believed that the driver of the Nissan had been consuming alcohol and a roadside screening test was failed when administered.

A 26-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested and provided breath samples at police headquarters.

Police say the samples indicated that he exceeded the legal limit to drive.

The man faces impaired and careless driving charges as a result.
