WHITBY, Ont. - Durham Regional Police are urging the public not to get suckered in by lollipops that appear to have been laced with drugs.

Police discovered the candy on Tuesday when local parents reached out after finding drugs on their son.

When police came to the home, they found three lollipops crudely wrapped with clear paper bound by colourful elastic bands.

Police say they believe the candies have been laced with an opiate or with THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

The lollipops have been sent for further analysis and police are urging the public to come forward with any information they may have.

They say a 17-year-old male was arrested for drug possession.
