Suspect arrested in Orillia bank robbery

Police have arrested one person after an alleged bank robbery in Orillia.

Officers were called to Monarch Drive around 4:30 Monday afternoon for a report someone had demanded money and took off after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say the suspect was given a decoy package causing the red dye to explode.

A 30-year-old man from Orillia has been charged with robbery with violence, uttering threats, using a firearm to commit an offence, and failing to comply with probation orders.

He has been remanded into custody to await his next court hearing at the end of the month.
