A massive storm rolled through the region Friday afternoon bringing with it weather warnings and leaving behind lots of damage.

A tornado warning was issued during the afternoon as the storm made its way across the region it was then downgraded to a watch late Friday afternoon.

Environment Canada had a report of a tornado near Highway 27 and Horseshoe Valley Road and a funnel cloud near Barrie but nothing has been confirmed.

There has been damage reported in Gravenhurst, Barrie, Orillia, and Port Severn.

OPP in Gravenhurst says a significant number of trees are down and extensive damage has been reported. Most roads are now passable but motorists are encouraged to watch for debris, hydro and clean up crews.    

The public is advised to stay away from downed trees and wires.

The public is asked to be patient while crews work diligently to clean up the debris and return power to the affected areas.  

Both Hydro One and Powerstream have been reporting a number of power outages in Barrie, Orillia, and throughout Muskoka.
