Stolen vehicle found in snowy ditch: driver flees

Police patrolling in Orillia early Monday morning came across a vehicle in a snowy ditch.

Located at on/off ramp of Highway 11 and Centre Avenue, provincial police stopped shortly before 1 a.m. to assist the driver.

However, police soon discovered the vehicle was stolen and the driver was wanted for several criminal offences in Toronto.

The driver attempted to flee on foot but was arrested a short time later.

A 22-year-old Etobicoke man was charged with various offences, including obstructing a peace officer, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of failing to comply with his probation.

The accused had a bail hearing on December 1.
