A small plane has crashed into Six Mile Lake and its pilot has been taken to hospital.

OPP say the plane crashed into the lake just west of the end of Pond Road across from Six Mile Lake Provincial Parkjust after 2 p.m. August 5, 2013. A 57-year-old Brampton man was just taking off in a Challenger Ultra-Light plane when it lost power and went into the lake.

He was taken to Wawautosa Marina by a boaterand then taken to Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland.  Police say his injuries are not life threatening, Police are investigating and the Transportation Safety Board has been notified.

The plane went down on the same lake where a 70-year-old Kingston woman died late Saturday night when her boat crashed into a small, rocky island. Five other people were injured in that crash.
