Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm watch for parts of our region on Thursday night.

The warning includes the areas of Orillia, Lagoon City, Washago, Fenelon Falls, Balsam Lake Park, northern Kawartha Lakes, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Haliburton, Minden and southern Hailiburton County.

Officials with Environment Canada say conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
