RIDING OF SIMCOE NORTH
With no incumbent in the riding, candidates are vying for voter support.
The Conservatives have dominated this riding through the years.
The riding has three Indigenous candidates, including Green Party candidate Krystal Brooks is the first person from Rama Nation to be on a ballot.
Brooks is up against Conservative Adam Chambers, who is Métis and hoping to keep the riding blue.
Roughly 11 per cent of the population in the riding is Indigenous.
Also hoping to represent the riding is Liberal Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux, NDP candidate Janet-Lynn Durnford, who is an elementary school teacher of 31 years, Christian Heritage Party of Canada’s Russ Emo, and PPC Stephen Makk.
The municipalities that make up the riding of Simcoe North are Orillia, Oro-Medonte, Midland, Severn, Tiny, Tay, Ramara, Penetanguishene, and Georgian Bay.
