Residents of a Little Avenue complex building in Barrie had to evacuate after a fire broke out in one of the units Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials say the fire was contained to the kitchen inside a second-floor apartment at the building near Bayview Avenue.

The unit sustained enough damage to prevent the occupants from returning home.

The deputy fire chief told CTV News the occupants of the unit where the fire originated were provided alternate options while they are displaced.

Everyone else was permitted back inside the building once it was cleared.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire and a damage estimate are undetermined.
