Pet dies in Huntsville house fire that caused $500,000 damage

Emergency crews battled a house fire in Huntsville that claimed the life of one pet on Monday.

Huntsville/Lake of Bays firefighters arrived at the home on Aspdin Road shortly after 2 a.m. to find flames shooting out the roof.

An official with the fire department says the blaze destroyed the ground floor and roof of the home, resulting in at least $500,000 in damages.

CTV News has learned the owner’s cat died in the fire.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
