Parking restrictions come into effect in Barrie with winter on the way

Share

Overnight on-street parking restrictions come into effect on Sunday in Barrie to ensure roads can be cleared during the winter months.

The restrictions are in place for city streets from 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m., and within the Downtown Business Improvement area from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. until the end of March.

Overnight parking is also not permitted in any hybrid parking lots or waterfront parking areas from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. during this period.

Downtown off-street parking options, including lots and the Collier Street Parkade, are not included in the restrictions, the City says.

City road crews plow streets deemed priority and secondary when at least five centimetres of the white stuff has accumulated, while residential roads are cleared when at least eight centimetres has fallen.
