Provincial police say they received a tip about a child luring and sexual assault that allegedly happened in 2021 when the accused was an aquatic supervisor at an Orillia rec centre.

The allegations imply the accused was offering alcohol to a youth in exchange for explicit images.

On Monday, officers executed a search warrant at an Orillia residence and, as a result, arrested the 43-year-old Orillia man.

He faces charges of luring a person under 18 using telecommunication, sexual exploitation, sexual assault, and possessing child pornography, among others.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police encourage anyone with information about this or a similar incident to call the Orillia OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
