OPP to ramp up patrols in Wasaga Beach ahead of potential car rally in another region
Provincial police will ramp up patrols this weekend in Wasaga Beach, focused on unlawful driving behaviours and vehicles with illegal modifications, in response to a possible car rally in another region roughly 235 kilometres.
According to social media posts, the unsanctioned car rally is descending on Grand Bend, west of London, Ont. Still, police say they will have plenty of officers in the beachfront town as a precaution.

Officers will be on the lookout for dangerous and aggressive driving, which can result in charges.
"Drivers and members of the public are reminded to respect our communities, comply with all laws and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal and dangerous actions," the OPP stated in a release.
Wasaga Beach has been a popular destination for unsanctioned car rallies in recent years.
Last September, the Town of Wasaga Beach took measures to prevent the H20i rally from returning by obtaining a court injunction, effectively banning souped-up vehicles from entering.
Police turned away hundreds of vehicles at the town's borders and issued more than 250 charges.
