Ont. woman posed as registered nurse in Simcoe County for 4 years: OPP

An Ontario woman is facing serious charges after police allege she pretended to be a registered nurse at several Simcoe County facilities, despite being unqualified.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say Hailey Roberts, 33, of Tiny Township, worked as a nurse, conducting full nursing duties, at multiple health care facilities, including long-term care homes, between September 2020 and April 2024.

“To obtain employment, the individual falsified employment applications, certificates, resumes, reference checks and police checks by modifying the name to resemble active nurses with good standings,” Huronia West OPP stated in a Friday release.

Police say Roberts turned herself in on Sunday.

She faces 19 charges, including identity fraud and assault with a weapon.

Roberts has been held for a bail hearing that will take place in Barrie.
