Nipissing University will close its Muskoka campus in Bracebridge.
The university announced on Tuesday their intention to close the campus by the end of June. Officials say most programs will be relocated to North Bay, once the campus closes.
When the campus opened in Bracebridge in 2008, enrolment was over 200 students. That has since shrunk to 79 this year and projected enrolment for September is 50 students.
The town had urged the Nipissing Board of Governors and Senate to reconsider at a meeting on Friday.
Students who are not finished their studies in June will finish them either at an alternate location or in North Bay.
Eight staff members will be affected, seeing their positions either relocated or eliminated.
