A 52- year-old man was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries after his motorcycle crashed in Innisfil.
South Simcoe Police were called to 10 Sideroad between the 2nd and 3rd Lines at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Police say someone passing by the area had found the man in a ditch near his overturned motorcycle, but are not sure how long the man had been lying there.
"We don't know exactly when the accident happened, so we're appealing to anyone who may have seen something overnight to give us a call," said Constable Rich Williamson.
The road was closed for several hours while investigators from the Traffic & Marine Unit tried to reconstruct the accident.
Police say speed is considered to be a factor in the crash and believe the motorcyclist missed the curve and crashed, landing in a water filled ditch.
Anyone with information is asked to contact South Simcoe Police.
