Size is a coveted commodity in basketball circles.
McMaster Coach Theresa Burns says her latest recruit, the Barrie Royals Basketball Club’s Ally Schweitzer, brings more than just inches to the Marauder program.
Schweitzer, 6’1” has good size but she’s also a multi-sport athlete who, along with basketball, has competed in volleyball, rugby, swimming and badminton during her time at Barrie Central Collegiate, Burns says.
“Ally is a very athletic, mobile forward, who has excelled at several different sports,” Burns says in a release. “Her terrific athleticism will allow her to fit right into our up-tempo style of play and we are so pleased to welcome her into the Marauder family.”
Schweitzer has been involved with the Royals for the last nine years, and was named an all-star in the provincial JUEL league.
She won numerous championships and captured medals at OFSAA in both basketball and rugby.
Schweitzer becomes the third Marauder recruit commitment for 2014 following Linnaea Harper of Newmarket and Hamilton native Erin Burns.
