Man arrested twice in one night for theft
Southern Georgian Bay OPP arrested a man on two separate occasions overnight as they investigated several theft-related calls from Midland community members.
At around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, police say they received a call from a resident about a black Ford Fusion that was stolen from a Midland restaurant parking lot. Officers located the vehicle in front of an Ottawa Street residence.
Through further investigation and with the help of surveillance footage, officers identified a male suspect who was previously known to police. He was then located and arrested a short time later at a Seventh Street address, while the stolen vehicle was recovered along with its owner's identification and credit cards.
The accused was released from custody with a future court date.

Then, just after midnight on Saturday, police say they received a report of a suspicious person attempting to enter parked cars. Officers located and arrested the man who was the same suspect in the previously mentioned theft incident.
As a result of the two investigations, a 36-year-old Christian Island man is facing multiple charges, including theft, trespassing, three counts of possessing property obtained by crime and ten counts of failing to comply with a probation order, among other offences.
The accused is being held in custody awaiting a future bail hearing and is scheduled for a future court date.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP urges drivers to keep their vehicles locked and to avoid leaving valuable items in their vehicles.
