Police have arrested a man they say broke into a Barrie pet store, stealing a puppy and four kittens.
Officers arrested the 21-year-old Innisfil man on Saturday, two weeks after the break-in happened at Doogans Pet Emporium. He has been charged with break and enter.
Video surveillance captured on June 25 shows a man forcing his way into the pet store through a front window. The suspect is later seen removing a nine-week-old Cockapoo and four kittens from their cages.
The puppy was found a day later in Innisfil after investigators received several tips from the public. However, police say they still haven’t been able to locate the four kittens.
Investigators originally believed the one beige, one grey and two black kittens were given to people living on Jans Boulevard. Officials are concerned for the cats because they haven’t received needed vaccinations.
Police are hoping that anyone with information about the missing kittens will come forward.
The accused is set to appear in court in August.
