The Town of Wasaga Beach says a flood warning is imminent and is trying to get the word out to residents.
The town sent out a bulletin Tuesday afternoon saying the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority is maintaining a flood watch, but has said a warning is coming.
"We may be upgraded to a flood warning shortly, particularly in Wasaga Beach," says Stephanie Durocher with the NVCA. "The rain on top of the snow is very concerning for us. We are expecting a couple of rain events ... up to 15 millimetres in the next week or so. That could make things a little bit dangerous."
Wasaga Beach Fire Chief Michael McWilliams says there isn’t any flooding yet, but he’s concerned it could develop quickly.
Rain and warmer temperatures are expected to develop this week, which could quickly melt the remaining snow pack, sending that water into the already fast-flowing Nottawasaga River and other smaller watercourses.
The town says the keep checking with them and the NVCA for updates on the flood conditions.
