A federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant after allegedly breaching his statutory release in May is in custody.

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad said Mohamed Ahmed was arrested in Melancthon Township after months of evading the authorities.

The squad reported the 25-year-old man was located by the OPP Tactical Response Unit.

Ahmed is serving a more than three-year sentence for two counts of aggravated assault, discharging a restricted firearm with intent, two counts of possessing a prohibited firearm with ammunition, and assault with intentional use of force.
