OPP are continuing to investigate the cause of a crash near Minett that killed a father and son.
Investigators say a Mercedes being driving by an 18-year-old man was heading towards Port Carling, when it collided head-on with another vehicle that had a father, daughter and grandfather inside.
The crash happened on Peninsula Road just after 4:30 p.m. The 49-year-old man and his 76-year-old father, both of Toronto, were pronounced dead at the scene.The 13-year-old daughter was airlifted to a Toronto hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old was transported to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge with non-life threatening injuries. Police say all four were cottagers in the area.
Police closed Peninsula between Gregory Road and Halls Road, while the OPP technical traffic collision investigation unit probed the scene. The road reopened several hours later.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause. They say road conditions were good and alcohol wasn’t a factor.
