People heading to Algonquin Park this weekend are in for a treat, the fall colours are at their peak.
Take a drive along Highway 60 through the park and you’ll find a backdrop of colour that Cathy Sabourin calls as beautiful as the road is smooth. And when you spend 12 hours a day working on the roads, this construction worker says the leaves are a refreshing splash of life.
“It’s something different to look at – it makes you feel good.”
Yvonne Komlenobich is one of thousands who take in the fall colours from the visitors centre in Algonquin Provincial Park.
“It’s just gorgeous; it’s like a feast for the eyes.”
Trees that are currently at their peak for colour are a beauty that moves Sharon Laird.
“I fell that it’s touching my roots, to come back here in a sense of being grounded in northern Ontario and it’s a way to connect.”
A connection that Peggy Chen’s friend from Hong Kong, Janet Ing, is experiencing for the first time.
“She really likes the colour; she is fascinated by the colour.”
Photographer Jim Stinson says there’s no better place to capture the colourful scenery than from the treetop at the visitors centre.
“Any camera will do justice to these colours, so come up and enjoy them.”
The Algonquin Provincial Park visitors centre is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of October.
