Driver loses control of car, plows across cornfield and crashes into house

Police charged a motorist after a vehicle crashed into a home in Innisfil Monday afternoon.

South Simcoe police say the collision happened on County Road 89 when a 56-year-old man travelling east lost control of his car.

"The male driver travelled through a significant section of the cornfield before breaking through a wooden fence and colliding with the west wall of the residence," police stated.

Local authorities say there were eight people, including two children, inside the residence at the time. No injuries were reported.

Due to the damage, municipal building officials were called to assess the structural integrity of the home.

Police say the family has been able to remain in their home.

The motorist is charged with careless driving.
