Provincial police charged a driver allegedly clocked speeding 76 kilometres per hour over the posted limit in Amaranth Township on Wednesday morning.

Police say the 40-year-old Shelburne man was on his way to work when they pulled him over.

The vehicle was allegedly travelling 146 km/h in the Town of Mono.

OPP posted about the incident on social media.

“What do you receive for driving 76 km/h over the posted speed limit on your way to work? You receive a complimentary court date along with your driver’s licence suspended and your vehicle impounded.”

The licence suspension and vehicle impoundment is an immediate penalty that accompanies a stunt driving charge.

Stunt driving charges are automatic for motorists caught speeding over 40 km/h in an area with a speed limit of less than 80 km/h.

The accused was stopped in a posted 70 km/h zone.

“Let’s hope this 40-year-old Shelburne man has a good group of friends that will give him a ride,” OPP concluded.
