Yet Dave Phillips, a retired senior climatologist with Enviroment Canada who lives in Barrie, spoke to the conditions its experiencing Monday morning.
"It's patchy and it's localized," Phillips said.
"If you're near a snowy surface, the warm air over it is being cooled, that causes the fog," he said. "We're expecting some drizzle and that will help to dissipate it."
As the morning warms up and the ice melts, layers of fog moved into the Barrie area leaving poor visibility and cautionary driving conditions.
"It becomes a driving issue. In Barrie, you're driving in and out of it," said Phillips.
