To date, $219,267 has been raised, but a $230,733 shortfall remains as the organization races against the clock to meet the needs of 1,950 families - the highest number in its 50-year history.
"This year, the demand is unprecedented, and the clock is ticking," said Sandra Yaquo, president of Barrie & District Christmas Cheer.
"We're determined to make sure no family goes without this Christmas, but we can't do it without the community's support," she said.
For the past 50 years, money raised provides holiday hampers stuffed with holiday food items and toys to families in Barrie, Innisfil, Oro-Medonte, Springwater, and Essa.
