Several services across Barrie are impacted by the Labour Day holiday on Monday. Here's what residents need to know:

Municipal buildings, including City Hall and recreational/community centre, are closed for the day.

Barrie Transit will run on a Sunday schedule. Riders are encouraged to download the Transit app to plan their trip.

Curbside collection won't be affected by the holiday. Waste and recycling will be picked up on the usual collection days.

Motorists can take advantage of free downtown parking because it's not enforced on statutory holidays. However, waterfront parking is enforced 24/7 all year long.

Finally, the city's bylaw prohibits fireworks on Labour Day or at any time over the last long weekend of the summer.

According to the bylaw, fireworks are only permitted on Victoria Day, Canada Day, New Year's Day, and through the Lunar New Year and Diwali.
