Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Rick Byers will not seek re-election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Byers said he would continue to work as the area's MPP until the next election.

"It has been and continues to be a great honour to represent Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and to work with Premier Doug Ford and the PC caucus to build a better Ontario," he stated.

Byers noted he decided to make the announcement now "to allow time for the local riding association and the Ontario PC Party to nominate a candidate."

Byers was first elected as a Member of the Provincial Parliament in the 2022 election, keeping the riding blue over the Liberal candidate Selwyn Hicks.
