There's something different people will notice at the cenotaph in Bolton this year and it’s thanks to some helpful residents.

Rick Law was at the cenotaph on Thursday. He stops here several times a year to pay his respects.

“I don't confide to just one day for me. It's a 365 day endeavor,” he says.

The cenotaph has recently undergone a much needed face lift and upgrade. Two flag poles were taken down, sanded and re-painted and are ready to go for Remembrance Day ceremonies.

Angelo Dibenedetto was one of about a dozen people who volunteered their time to help out.

“It's our town, it's our community. This is where we live, this is where we raise our children,” says Dibenedetto. “Our families are here and we want to beautify it and we want to be proud of this area.”

Colin Hanna is a captain with the Caledon Fire Department. He had no trouble finding several volunteer firefighters more than happy to help out.

“Recognize the names that are on this memorial and the other names are yet to be put on this memorial,” says Hanna. “Our service has grown leaps and bounds, it really does go to the community support in spirit.”

Jimmy Pountney is the former chair of the local BIA. He says he got the idea to fix up the cenotaph after someone suggested it on Facebook and they are not done just yet.

“We're looking at bringing out a company looking at doing the lead lettering for all the names on the monument and even doing a little bit of a surround wall around the monument as well.”

For residents in the area, there will be two ceremonies held at the local cenotaph. The first will be Sunday at noon and the second will be on the 11th day at the 11th hour.
