Jurors heard evidence from an OPP officer who is an expert in blood stain patterns Thursday.
The officer faced questions about forensic evidence discovered at the scene during the investigation into the shooting death of Deena Brooks.
Constable Patrick Lancaster testified there were three areas of blood stains found at the scene, including one on the interior front door, another on the north wall in the front foyer and a third on the floor in the foyer.
The jury was shown several pictures from the scene, including photos Brooks’ blood stained jeans and shoes.
Lancaster described to the court how Brooks’ body was discovered.
“(She) was in an upright position, after receiving a bloodletting injury.”
“You mean a gunshot?” the crown asked.
“Yes,” Lancaster replied.
Deena Brooks, 50, was killed in May of 2013 – she was a lab technician at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie.
Mitchell Brooks is accused of killing his wife and is facing a first-degree murder charge. Brooks has pleaded not guilty.
The trial is expected to last six weeks and continues Friday.
