Motorcycles could be seen and heard on roads in Muskoka on Saturday raising money for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Dozens of riders took part in the first-annual Trooper Caswell ride in the Bracebridge area organized by Darlene Cushman.
On June 11, 2007, Cushman lost her only son Trooper Darryl Caswell when the Coyote he was driving hit a roadside bomb just north of Kandahar. He was almost finished his tour and about to turn 26.
Caswell and his mother were orginally from Bowmanville but Cushman has since moved to Bracebridge.
He was an avid biker and loved the open road. In his honour Cushman has created the Trooper Darryl Caswell Ride with all of the proceeds going to ‘PAWS FUR THOUGHT’ - Veteran PTSD Service Dogs and The Royal Canadian Legion “Operation Leave the Streets “, Homeless Veterans Assistance program.
