Thousands of people were in downtown Barrie on Saturday for the annual Winterfest festival.

Helicopter rides were one of the festival’s most popular attractions.

“He's probably going about 120 miles an hour and he'd be about 1500 feet up,” said helicopter organizer Wendy Crisp. “He's flying not too high because the ceiling is low, because we want everybody to get a nice picture and a great view.”

Those who took a ride in the helicopter got to see the festival’s dogsled rides, lumberjack contests, snow sculptures, and the ice maze that all make Winterfest one of the most well-attended festivals of the year.

The festival will continue with fireworks on Saturday night, and wrap up Sunday.
