A Barrie man is facing eight charges following an investigation into alleged sexual assaults at a private school in Innisfil in the 1980s.

South Simcoe Police say they began the investigation in October after a woman claimed she was the victim of multiple sexual assaults while attending Bay Point Academy.

Bay Point Academy was a private school which specialized in students with delayed, developmental and identified learning disabilities.

The woman told police one of her teachers sexually assaulted her in 1986.

Police also say one other alleged victim who was interviewed claims that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the same man while living at the school between 1985 and 1988.

Gincarlo Marchi, 49, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, once count of sexual intercourse with a person under 14, and two counts of sexual intercourse with a person between the age of 14 and 16.

Police are asking any other potential victims to come forward.
