Family gives back to honour late daughter

Share

The loss of a child has brought out the very best in the community.

Mike and Melissa Robinson and family recently visited the Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) foundation to deliver $10,100 from Celia's Bake Sale.

The bake sale was in honour of their daughter Celia Marie, who passed away at the Georgian Bay General hospital at 22 days old on Christmas Day 2019.

"We wanted to do something to honour Celia, so I decided the bake sale was the best way," said Melissa in a YouTube video.

"I never thought it would take off the way that it did."

Robinson said the community support was amazing. They thought they might raise $500, but in its first year, they raised $7,500 for the hospital.

Since 2020, Celia's Bake Sale has raised $38,350.

This year's funds will be used to purchase a Vital Signs Monitor for the GBGH emergency department.

The Robinson's wish to offer a special thank you to the local businesses who collected and encouraged donations to Celia's Bake Sale.
