The Barrie Food Bank is still in need of thousands of pounds of food in order for them to get through the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The food bank has received about 40,000 pounds worth of donations, but still needs another 40,000. They’re goal for their Thanksgiving food drive is 150,000 pounds.
“You know Thanksgiving is a time of year where we all want to give, and I just want to encourage people that you can make donations at all of our local grocery stores right here in Barrie,” says Peter Sundborg, executive director of the food bank.
Staff at the food bank say they're looking for just about every type of food. They say anything you would put in your grocery cart, is something the food bank can use.
