She’s already an Olympic champion but now freestyle skier Dara Howell has another claim to fame – her very own beer.

Howell may be an Olympic gold medallist but when it comes to brewing her own beer she got into the action.

“They are putting me to work! They made me stir and I was like I have no arm strength.”

The hard work will be worth the reward: Dara’s very own beer aptly named “The Snowy Howell.”

The Snowy Howell is the brainchild of Andrew Crower and is being brewed for Sessions Toronto – a festival where breweries collaborate with celebrities to create a new beer.

“I was thinking winter, Snow White and I wanted to do a wheat beer and something I’ve been tasting a lot lately is really hoppy beers so I decided to blend the hops of an IPA with the wheat style of the Belgian whit.”

And to make sure everyone who tastes the beer knows where it came from, Crower is adding one more flavour.

“We’re going to exploit some of the piney characteristics of the hops that you could find and make it a northern feel beer. That fits well with Dara and ourselves and Muskoka Brewery.”

While the beer is being made specifically for the Sessions Festival, there will be a limited run of bottles. All of the proceeds will go toward the Muskoka Conservancy. An organization that helps preserve and protect the Muskoka area.

“It’s not every day you get to do things like this to help my community and give back is what I want to do so I’m really excited,” added Howell.

The Snowy Howell will be on sale at the brewery towards the end of June but they are only selling about 300 bottles. And you’re going to want to hurry – Dara’s dad Doug says he plans to buy 290 of them.
