Police arrested a man they say is responsible for a rash of robberies at convenience stores in Barrie over the last 10 months.

Police say the robberies all happened west of Bayfield Street near Glenwood Drive and Cundles Road West.

The alleged robberies began on Dec. 18, 2023, at Zel Convenience on Cundles Road West, where a man armed with an axe and wearing a Batman mask stole a small amount of cash from the register.

Police say the same store was targeted two other times, while another convenience store on Glenwood Drive was allegedly robbed on Sept. 22.

On Tuesday morning, an officer arrested a 42-year-old man of no fixed address after noticing he was wearing "identical clothing that was worn by a suspect during a recent robbery," police noted.

The accused is facing 15 charges in connection with the investigation.
