Provincial police laid impaired driving charges after finding a charred snowmobile that had crashed into a parked van and a barn.

Police say they were called about a snowmobile on fire on Concession 17 West of Tiny Township on Thursday night.

Officers arrived to find the burned sled abandoned but said they noticed fresh footprints in the snow leading to a nearby home.

Police say they went to the house and spoke with an individual who they determined had been operating the snowmobile. They say he appeared intoxicated, but had refused to give a breath sample.

As a result, the 43-year-old man from Tiny Township was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. He was released on an undertaking and given a future court date.
