Ontario’s Special Investigation’s Unit is probing a fatal early morning motorcycle crash in Alliston.
According to the SIU, an officer from the Nottawasaga OPP detachment was attempting to stop a motorcyclist on Sunday, shortly after midnight in the area of 8th Avenue and Morrison Avenue.
OPP say the rider failed to stop and a short time later struck a construction barrier. The 34-year-old was taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The SIU will now investigate the circumstances surround the crash and whether the officer committed a criminal offence during the traffic stop.
