Police in Barrie allegedly seized a semi-automatic pistol and drugs during an overnight investigation that resulted in the arrest of three men downtown.

The police service says two men were refused entry to a Dunlop Street East establishment around 1 a.m. Friday "after it was believed that one of them was in possession of a firearm."

Police say officers quickly located the two men, who were with another man, near Meridian Place based on the descriptions provided.

They allegedly found one of the men with a firearm and said all three had what are suspected to be illegal drugs and substances.

"Evidence related to drug trafficking was also seized," the service noted.

A 24-year-old man from Scarborough, a 20-year-old man from Ajax, and a 37-year-old man from Barrie were charged and held in custody for a bail hearing.
