Repairs to a dike in Bradford have finally started.

This dike broke earlier this month, flooding more than 100 acres of fertile farmland. It was the second dike break to cause flooding in the Holland Marsh.

The work to patch the broken dike is expected to take at least a couple of weeks.

Once it is repaired, the water then has to be pumped off the fields.

It will only be a temporary fix.

After that, the town is hoping for approval from the province to rebuild the dike completely to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
