One Barrie resident was faced with an unexpected surprise after their return home on Tuesday night.

Just after 6:30 p.m., Barrie Police were called to a home on Park Street after a homeowner found an unknown man sleeping on their driveway.

When police arrived, the stranger was found lying in the bushes next to the driveway of the home.

After confirming the identity of the suspect, police determined that he was wanted on a warrant held by Barrie Police Service for failing to comply with probation.

The 35-year-old male from Barrie, was arrested and found in possession of suspected fentanyl and a quantity of hydromorphone.

Police say, he was transported to their Headquarters for further investigation and was later released on an undertaking after being charged with failing to comply with probation and two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance.

The public is being reminded by the Barrie Police Service to phone the police, just like this homeowner did, if they see an unknown person on their property.

The man is scheduled to appear before the courts at a later date.
