Police busted two residents over the weekend in separate impaired driving investigations on roadways and waterways.

Marine officers checked a bow rider vessel with five occupants just off Whiskey Island in Penetang Bay at 2:09 p.m. Saturday.

After speaking with the boat operator, he was taken ashore to the station. Police say the 62-year-old Midland man registered three times the legal limit of alcohol allowed by law.

The Midland boater now faces impaired charges, two counts of having open liquor on a boat and failing to register the boat after he bought it.

The man was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 26 and was served a 90-day driver's licence suspension.

Complaints to South Georgian Ontario Provincial Police regarded a driver who caused concern for several motorists and an ambulance on Highway 12 in Tay Township just before 5 p.m. on Friday.

Officers spoke to the suspect vehicle's driver at an Assiniboia Street address in Port McNicoll and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, a 33-year-old Port McNicoll man has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
  • Failing to Comply with Probation Order

He was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 26, was served a 90-day driver's licence suspension, and the vehicle was towed to be impounded for seven days.
